Motor vehicle collision results in multiple charges

WAWA - On June 28, 2014 at 9 p.m., officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Wawa Detachment were advised of a possible impaired driver attempting to exit private drive on McKinley Avenue.

A red Chevrolet Monte Carlo had struck a parked vehicle twice and narrowly missed the building and a light post. 

The driver then fled the scene.

Investigation by the OPP led to the arrest of the driver, 25-year-old Paulina Mokroer-Makowski of Wawa, Ontario.

The accused stands charged with the following offences:

  • Driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood as per s. 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Driving while ability impaired as per s. 253(1)(a) of the CC
  • Fail to stop at scene of accident as per s. 252(1.1) of the CC
  • Dangerous operation of motor vehicle as per s. 249(1)(a) of the CC

She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Wawa, Ontario at the Court of Justice on August 18, 2014.
