Pedestrian struck by vehicle on Albert Street West

One taken to hospital following Wednesday morning collision

2:04 p.m. update:

A pedestrian is in hospital after being struck by a vehicle on Albert Street West Wednesday morning. 

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a report of a collision at the intersection Albert Street West and Andrew Street around 8:30 a.m.  

Sgt. Ray Magnan tells SooToday that the vehicle was travelling southbound on Andrew Street when it made a left turn onto Albert Street West, striking the pedestrian who was crossing Albert Street at the time of the collision.  

The pedestrian is currently in stable condition after being transported to hospital with serious injuries. 

Police say the investigation into the collision is ongoing.

Five cruisers and forensics were at Albert St. West and Andrew this morning.

A portion of Albert was cordoned off.
