Rainfall warning in effect for Searchmont - Montreal River Harbour - Batchawana Bay - Blind River - Thessalon - Espanola - Killarney - Manitoulin Island - Greater Sudbury and vicinity - Elliot Lake - Ranger Lake - Chapleau - Missinaibi Lake - Gogama - Foleyet

Rain, at times heavy, continues.

A slow moving low pressure system is giving showers at times heavy to the above regions.

Showers and scattered thunderstorms are expected at times this evening and tonight.

Total rainfall amounts of 50 mm are expected in some portions of the regions, with a few locally higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Sudbury has already reported nearly 50 mm as of 3  p.m., and could see another 10 to 20 mm this evening and tonight.

Furthermore, radar shows that the area between Sault Ste. Marie and Montreal River has received about 50 mm, with another 10 to 15 mm expected there.

The threat for heavy rain will end Sunday morning.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required, so stay tuned to your local media or Weatheradio.

More rain tonight.

A low pressure system over Upper Michigan will track into Northeastern Ontario tonight.

Periods of rain and isolated thunderstorms ahead of the low will continue into tonight.

Total rainfall amounts of 20 to 40 mm are expected with up to 50 mm possible for areas affected by thunderstorms.

A rainfall warning is in effect for the area from Superior East to New Liskeard, and southward through Sudbury to Manitoulin.

Portions of these regions will see rainfall amounts in excess of 50 mm.
