The Michigan Department of Transportation has released more information about the joint repair project that will restrict traffic to one lane from Monday through Friday of next week.

The construction will take place at the north end of the U.S. arch, officials said.

The usual speed limit of 50 kilometres an hour will be maintained.

Traffic regulators will be used to restrict vehicles to one lane of traffic during daylight hours.

The following is the full text of the Department of Transportation announcement:

County: Chippewa Highway: I-75 Closest Cities: Sault Ste. Marie (Michigan and Ontario)

Estimated Starting Date: July 14

Estimated Completion Date: July 18

Project: The International Bridge Administration will perform joint repairs on the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge at the north end of the U.S. arch beginning July 14. The project is expected to last a week. Traffic Restrictions: One lane of traffic will be maintained via traffic regulators during the daylight hours. Proper signage will also be utilized on the bridge to alert motorists of the upcoming repair work. Motorists are urged to be patient, watch for traffic-control changes and proceed with caution through the work zone. The posted speed limit on the bridge is 30 mph (or 50 kmph).
