A 70-year-old moose hunter who went missing yesterday near Ranger Lake is in good condition after being located this morning.

Ontario Provincial Police looked all night for Francis Winslow, who went missing from a camp about 10 kilometres off the Ranger Lake Road.

The area is inaccessible except by all-terrain vehicles, and arrangements had been made to bring in an OPP helicopter this morning.

Participating in the all-night search were the OPP Emergency Response Team, Sault Search and Rescue, and canine units from both the OPP and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

Ontario Provincial Police have issued the following news release:

**************************************************************** Missing hunter found safe and sound

(Ranger Lake, Ont.) - An all-night search in the Ranger Lake area north east of Sault Ste Marie has located a missing seventy year old hunter.

At about 8:45 this morning OPP located seventy-year-old Francis Winslow in the bush.

The Sault Ste. Marie man is in good condition after spending the night in the bush.

He was located by a search party consisting of members from the OPP Emergency Response Team and members of Sault Search and Rescue.

Officials at the Command Post at Ranger Lake indicate it will be about one-and-a-half hours before the search team and the hunter return to the command post.

The search team is advising that Mr. Winslow does not require any medical treatment and should be re-united with his hunting party later this morning.

Mr. Winslow was reported missing to the OPP at about 8 p.m. last night.

He was last seen at 9:30 yesterday morning after members of his hunting party dropped him off near his hunting area.

When he didn’t return at about noon yesterday, the members of his party started their own search for the man.

As darkness fell and they didn’t locate the man, they left the remote bush camp and called police.
