Missing 16-year-old said she was on her way to Thunder Bay (update: found)

Police are looking to speak to anyone who knows her whereabouts

Janet Etherington has been located and is in good health. The Timmins Police Service is thankful for the public’s assistance with this matter.

9 a.m. original release

The Timmins Police Service is in receipt of a report of a missing person and is seeking the public's assistance in locating the following person.

Janet Etherington, 16, was last seen by a relative in Timmins on October 25, 2016 at 7 p.m.

She had attended her aunt’s residence with an unknown female person.

The missing person had gathered her personal belongings and told her aunt she had a ride waiting for her to go to Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Etherington is described as an aboriginal female, five-foot-eight, 160 lbs, medium build, brown eyes, medium length curly hair which is kept in a ponytail most of the time.

She was last seen wearing a green fall jacket (fur around the collar), blue jeans and beige boots.

She was carrying a backpack and a gym bag. Janet Etherington was recently in Timmins as she had attended a funeral in Fort Albany.

This past summer, Janet Etherington was residing with a family in Campbellford, Ontario.

Anyone with relevant information concerning the current whereabouts of this person is asked to call the Timmins Police at 705-264-1201.
