Millworks welcomes two financial services firms

A pair of financial services firms recently moved into the Millworks - Centre for Entrepreneurship. The companies, WFG Securities Inc. and Mortgage Architects, are the newest clients to utilize the small business incubator operated by the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation (SSMEDC).

“We couldn’t ask for a better location to launch our WFG business in Sault Ste. Marie,” said Brad Jacobs, marketing director for WFG Securities. “We’re grateful to have the support of the SSMEDC and Millworks - Centre for Entrepreneurship. Their staff provided us with the support we needed to get our business off the ground. An added bonus is the beautiful architecture and preservation of the building’s origins, along with the open concept feel, boardroom and technology. It makes coming to the office exciting every day.”

These comments were echoed by Pam Jaehrling, Broker for Mortgage Architects.

“The Millworks is a great location to operate a business from,” she said. “Along with our office space, we’re able to use the board room to conduct financial literacy and awareness sessions. It’s also great to have access to SSMEDC staff, who are available to help out with business planning, marketing and just about anything else we need.”  

Located at the Machine Shop, the Millworks - Centre for Entrepreneurship is an initiative of the SSMEDC. The facility is home to the organization’s enterprise services programs and staff, along with a small business incubator. In 2018, the incubator hosted a total of 11 companies.

“The Millworks incubator features the space and resources to help businesses become sustainable and reach a higher level of operation,” said Dan Hollingsworth, Executive Director of the SSMEDC.

“Studies show that after five years, the success rate for companies that utilize incubation services is more than 80 per cent, compared to around 33 per cent for non‐incubated businesses. Given these benefit to local entrepreneurs, the Millworks is a key priority project for our organization.”
