Men accused of TD bank robberies arrested

OTTAWA – A police investigative team, consisting of investigators from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, Waterloo Regional Police Service, Greater Sudbury Police Service, Ottawa Police Service, and Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), under the direction of Detective Inspector Paul Yelle, of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, conducted a joint investigation with the assistance of Service de police de Laval and Sûreté du Québec.

The investigation involved a series of early morning armed robberies that occurred between March 20, 2013 and September 12, 2013 in the municipalities of Sault Ste. Marie, Cambridge, Sudbury and Ottawa.

As a result of this joint investigation, the team arrested and charged 4 people in relation to the following armed robberies:

• March 20, 2013 - Toronto Dominion Bank – Sault Ste. Marie, ON
• July 4, 2013 – Toronto Dominion Bank – Cambridge, ON
• July 26, 2013 – Toronto  Dominion Bank – Sudbury, ON
• September 12, 2013 -  Toronto Dominion Bank – Stittsville, ON

Charged for the March 20, 2013 Armed Robbery are:

• Daniel LOYER, 45 of Gatineau, Quebec and;
• Andre AUBE, 40 of Casselman, Ontario.

They have been charged with:

• Armed Robbery;
• Have Face Masked/Disguised;
• Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence;
• Mischief Under $5000;
• Use Firearm While Committing an Indictable Offence;
• Point a Firearm;
• Possess Firearm Without a Licence;
• Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000;

Charged for the July 4 and July 26 Armed Robberies are:

• Daniel LOYER, 45 of Gatineau, Quebec;
• Sylvain BELANGER, 35 of Gatineau, Quebec and;
• Andre AUBE, 40 of Casselman, Ontario.

They have been charged with:

• Armed Robbery (2 counts);
• Robbery/Assault with Intent to Steal;
• Have Face Masked/Disguised (2 counts);
• Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence (2 counts);
• Mischief Under $5000 (2 counts);
• Use Firearm While Committing an Indictable Offence (2 counts);
• Point a Firearm;
• Possess Firearm Without a Licence (2 counts);
• Possess Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 (3 counts) and;
• Make or Possess Explosive Substance.

Charged for the September 12, 2013 Armed Robbery are:

• Daniel Loyer, 45 of Gatineau, Quebec;
• Sylvain Belanger, 35 of Gatineau, Quebec and;
• Jammal Pierre, 32 of Montreal, Quebec.

They have been charged with:

• Armed Robbery;
• Have Face Masked/Disguised;
• Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence;
• Mischief Under $5000;
• Use Firearm While Committing an Indictable Offence;
• Point a Firearm and;
• Possess Firearm Without a Licence.

Belanger, Loyer and Pierre are presently in custody on matters initiated in Quebec. Aube was arrested and held for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice, in Ottawa on March 20, 2014.
