The Ministry of Natural Resources has announced a memorial service will be held on Wednesday for four of its employees who died last week in a helicopter crash in Mekatina, about 80 kilometres north of Sault Ste. Marie.

The service, which is open to the public, takes place at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Sault Ste. Marie Armoury at 375 Pine Street.

All MNR flags will continue to fly at half-mast until the service, and the same will apply to the City of Sault Ste. Marie.

In addition, the ministry is asking that everyone not attending the service observe a moment of silence at 2 p.m.

The four MNR employees are Michael Maguire, 50, chief helicopter pilot; Walter Ceolin, 52, conservation officer; Bruce Stubbs, 39; and Chantelle Walkey, 27, both resource technicians.

All were based in Sault Ste. Marie.
