We are pleased to announce Sandie Leith as the new Director of Services at Algoma Family Services (AFS).

Sandie takes on her new responsibilities starting today!

A senior leader in mental health, Sandie has worked at the Canadian Mental Health Association for the last 30 years, 15 of those years as Director of Clinical Services.

She possesses a Masters of Social Work from Laurentian University and has served on a number of provincial committees/panels such as past Chair of Human Services and Justice Coordinating Committees, the Expert Panel on the Treatment of Clinical Depression, as well as the Ontario Drug Treatment Fund Program Advisory Committee.

At the local level, Sandie has developed strong relationships with community partners and has served on the Algoma Human Services and Justice Coordinating Committee as past chair, the Rapid Response Situation Table, as well as the East Algoma Systems Planning Table to mention a few.

Since the introduction of the new CEO, Ali Juma, in March 2015, AFS has undertaken an enterprise change management plan incorporating the board, management and service model structures.

“With Sandie joining our leadership team, I feel confident I have the right people at the right time to move forward with our restructuring plans. We are fortunate to have a leader of Sandie’s caliber at AFS, with a strong and demonstrated track record of innovation and collaboration,” said Ali Juma, CEO Algoma Family Services.

Strong communities are built on the foundation of strong families.

The children, youth, adults and families of Algoma deserve to receive the highest quality of service at a time and place that is accessible to them.

As a newly designated Children and Youth Mental Health Lead agency, AFS is committed to building pathways of service that are clear, accessible and timely.

“I am thrilled to have Sandie on board to help transform our service structure and system,” said Ali Juma, CEO.

Please join us in welcoming Sandie Leith as the new Algoma Family Services Director of Service.
