The Board of Directors of the Sault Area Hospital Foundation (SAHF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Teresa Martone as executive director.

Teresa joins the foundation having most recently served as the executive director of the Group Health Centre Trust Fund and director of communications. She also brings nearly 20 years of experience in the fields of marketing and communications and, for more than a decade, held the position of director of client services for Lucidia Ltd.

Active in our community, Teresa also volunteers her time with the Sault Community Career Centre currently serving as vice chair of its Board of Directors.

“Teresa’s experience will be instrumental in leading the foundation as it expands its fundraising efforts to meet the increasing equipment needs of Sault Area Hospital. The hospital looks to expand services in our community as well as replace aging equipment, some of which was moved from the previous hospital locations. Teresa’s passion for healthcare and her strong commitment to developing and nurturing relationships, coupled with her work experience, makes her well suited for this position and we look forward to the energy we know she will bring,” says Elaine Pitcher, chair of the SAHF Board of Directors.

“The Foundation is an incredible organization focused on making an impact on healthcare for the residents of the District of Algoma. Ensuring that our physicians and health care providers have access to up-to-date medical equipment to diagnose and treat patients is important to all of us and it is an honour for me to be able to bring my passion for community healthcare into this exciting role. I look forward to working with the foundation team, continuing our commitment to work tirelessly to raise funds to support the care for our loved ones close to home,” says Teresa Martone, executive director of the foundation.

This year alone, SAHF is focused on purchasing approximately $1.7 million in equipment required in various departments throughout the hospital and will be expanding its efforts to raise the nearly $50 million that the hospital has identified will be required for service expansion and to replace outdated equipment over the next seven years.

The Foundation Board of Directors looks forward to working with Teresa and welcomes her to this leadership role.
