Patients and their families are welcome to attend an information session with Christine Elliott, Ontario’s patient ombudsman, between 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, Mar. 29 at Sault Area Hospital’s auditorium.

As patient ombudsman, Elliott investigates complaints about patient care and facilities in Ontario and works to reach resolutions.

The ombudsman has jurisdiction over Ontario hospitals, Community Care Access Centres (CCACs) and long term care homes.

The North East Local Health Integration Network (North East LHIN) is hosting Elliott’s visit.

Elliott is currently touring northern Ontario, visiting Sault Ste. Marie, North Bay, Sudbury and Espanola, meeting with patients, their families and health care providers.

Elliott, a former Progressive Conservative MPP for Whitby-Oshawa, was appointed Ontario’s first Patient Ombudsman July 1, 2016.
