Today, Mayor Christian Provenzano offered the following remarks on the provincial byelection that was held on June 1, 2017:

“I’d like to congratulate Ross Romano and his campaign team for their victory in this hard-fought race. I have enjoyed serving with Ross on City Council and I know he will be working hard at Queen’s Park on our community’s behalf.

I look forward to working with him collaboratively in the months ahead in his new role as our Member of Provincial Parliament. Council and I wish him much success.

I would also like to congratulate all of the other candidates who stood for election on their respective campaigns. It is never easy to put your name on a ballot but the health of our democracy depends on individuals finding the courage to do so.

On behalf of the City of Sault Ste. Marie and City Council I’d like to thank all of the participants for their efforts.”
