If you heard some big bangs from the waterfront area a little before 7 p.m., it was just the guests blasting the 49th Field Regiment's 105-mm howitzers into the night.

The formal evening, one of the highlights of the Sault Ste. Marie social calendar, includes representation from law enforcement and military agencies from both sides of the border.

Since the local Crime Stoppers program started, it has resulted in:

- more than 1,850 arrests

- over $2.9 million in property recovered

- more than $4.1 worth of drugs removed from our streets
