The suspect has been identified as 32-year-old Victor Branco.

Original 12:30 p.m. information:
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has advised the public via emergency alert to shelter in place as the agency investigates "an armed and dangerous" incident in M'Chigeeng First Nation on Manitoulin Island.

"Police request members of the general public shelter in place of safety until further notice in this area including Highway 551," the alert reads.

OPP requested via Twitter that anyone with information about the ongoing situation to call 1-888-310-1122.
