A young Toronto area man will learn next week when he will be sentenced for the part he played in a death that occurred in the bush south of Wawa two years ago.

Demitri Fortomaris pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact to murder during a video conference appearance in a Sault Ste. Marie courtroom on July 21.

On Thursday, the 24-year-old Missisauga resident appeared in person before Superior Court Justice Michael Varpio.

After hearing sentencing submissions from defence counsel Jennifer Tremblay-Hall and Sudbury assistant Crown attorney Grace Alcaide Janicas, the judge put the matter over to next Wednesday to be spoken to.

A temporary publication ban prohibits reporting any evidence or information presented during the proceedings.

Fortomaris was charged in connection with the murder of Devon Collin, 32, of Sudbury.

The Ontario Provincial Police announced in August 2019 that his remains had been found along Highway 17, south of the Michipicoten River Bridge, in Rabazo Township, on June 29, 2019.

Collin had been reported missing June 17 and the investigation following the discovery revealed his death was a homicide,

Another man faces a charge of first-degree murder in connection with his death.
