Both times city police located a local man who was wanted on outstanding warrants, he was carrying weapons, a judge heard this week.

When Arian Luzzi was searched on Dec. 26, officers discovered a large hunting knife and a collapsible baton concealed in his coat.

He also had a bag containing .6 grams of cocaine in a backpack, assistant Crown attorney Karen Pritchard said.

Luzzi was released from custody, but was subsequently picked up again on March 8 on a warrant.

The 21-year-old was found with a wire garrote (a prohibited weapon) and a syringe.

Luzzi pleaded guilty to seven charges when he appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice.

He was convicted of four counts involving the weapons, including two counts for possession of a weapon while prohibited, as well as two charges of breach of probation and a single drug possession offence.

Justice Romuald Kwolek agreed to adjourn sentencing until Dec. 9 so that Luzzi can attend a residential treatment program.
