************************ Man dies following Kirkland Lake Shooting incident

(Kirkland Lake, Ont.) – A man who was seriously injured in a Kirkland Lake shooting incident being investigated by the OPP, has died.

The OPP responded to a 911 call at approximately 8:45 p.m. on October 18, 2004, after gun shots were heard by a Kirkland Lake resident.

The OPP attended a residence where they found a victim with an apparent gun shot wound, on the front lawn of a residence on Main Street.

The deceased has been identified as 42 year-old Serge Lefèbvre of Kirkland Lake.

The deceased was taken to hospital following the shooting, and was subsequently airlifted to St. Michael’s Hospital where he died yesterday.

A post mortem examination will be scheduled later this week to determine the cause of death.

The incident is being investigated by members of the Kirkland Lake OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of Detective Inspector Mark Pritchard of the Criminal Investigation Branch, Orillia.

As the investigation continues, police are seeking the public’s assistance.
