11:45 a.m. update

SooToday.com spoke with Staff Sgt. Jane Martynuck regarding an incident reported last evening by Sault Ste. Marie Police Service during which a male received life-threatening injuries.

Because it's an open and on-going investigation, Martynuck was unable to disclose the nature of the injuries, the identity or condition of the victim, or if investigators had any suspects or pending charges related to the incident.

She did confirm, however, that there appears to be no connection between the incident on Albert Street and drug charges laid against a Hughes Street resident yesterday.

142 Albert Street is the same building where Todd Petrie was found dead in 2011.

Petrie's murder remains unsolved.

Martynuck told us investigators have been working on this recent case throughout the night and are expected to remain at the scene today.

SooToday.com will post additional information as it becomes available.
