Long Weekend Outlook: A perfect summer long weekend

Earlier this week I had to go into hiding for daring to suggest that the warmest time of the year has (climatologically) passed us by and for mentioning the ‘W’ word.

With a long weekend fast approaching (and my desire to safely walk the streets of Sault Ste. Marie again) I came up with what could surely be described as perfect weather for a summer long weekend.

Friday will see high pressure build into the region from the west. Temperatures will quickly climb to the mid-20s this afternoon as a few fair weather clouds come and go this afternoon.

Winds will be light and variable with a weak onshore lake breeze for those on the water.

Saturday brings sunny skies again with a few afternoon and evening clouds.  Temperatures continue to sneak upwards into the upper 20s.

The weak pressure gradient from the high pressure overhead will again allow for weak afternoon lake breezes for those near the water but otherwise little wind elsewhere.

Sunday and Monday should bring perfectly sunny skies and temperatures climbing to near +30C. Little to no wind is expected again as the dome of high pressure stalls out over the region.

The warm and dry conditions look to continue well into next week as the overall weather pattern remains the same as this weekend.

Unless we catch a rogue afternoon thunderstorm sometime next week, it could be next Friday until any rain shows up in the forecast.
