Locals are throwing Diwali celebration in Sault Ste. Marie.

Diwali is a festival of lights that is celebrated in most parts of India.

The event marks the return of Lord Ram, his wife Seeta and his brother Laxman to Ayodhya after their 14-year banishment.

The celebration kicks off on Oct. 13 at the Moose Lodge from 5 to 10 p.m.

Diwali is the festival of lights and is largely celebrated in most parts of India. It marks the return of Lord Ram, his wife Seeta and his brother Laxman to Ayodhya after their 14-year exile and also coincides with the Hindu New Year. It also marks the birth of Goddess Lakshmi.

We, Harsh, Lovleen and our friend Navraj are very excited to share that we are organizing a Diwali celebration on Oct. 13, 2022, at the Moose Lodge from 5 to 10 p.m. It is open to all, and everyone is encouraged to join. There is no dress code, but you can surely flaunt Indian attire or any colourful clothes that you’d like to.

The celebrations will begin with a small Diwali prayer ceremony, followed by dance performances and fun games along with yummy Indian snacks. The dance floor will be open to enjoy the rest of the evening, and dinner will be served at 8 p.m. All the dishes will be authentic Indian cuisine (not a nut-free environment). There will be a cash bar.

The ticket cost is $30 per person, which includes entry, snacks, dinner and participation in all the activities. Tickets are on sale until Oct. 7 and can be purchased through e-transfer to Harsh Goyal at [email protected]. Do include your phone number when you e-transfer so we can coordinate with you to get your wristbands. There will be no entry at the door.

Hope to see you all and have a fun evening together.
