Local security company continues to grow

Once known as Norpro Security and Investigations, after its latest partnerships and acquisitions, Norpro is poised as much more than a security company.

In 2018, Norpro partnered to become the exclusive northern Ontario dealer for Caliber Communications, which offers the first UL Certified live Video Monitoring system which can even replace guards on sites, as well as provide remote Internet and cell service.

Then in early 2019, they acquired Unique Data Systems and Lucidia Technologies, two Sault Ste. Marie IT firms. Most recently they have acquired NorthStream Safety and Rehab with locations in Wawa, Thunder Bay, and Atikokan.

In addition to the drug and alcohol suite of services, NorthStream offers a wide range of occupational tests and evaluations.

“We help ensure you hire employees who are fit for work and we test for baselines such as hearing and lung function,” said Donna Nordstrom, owner/operator of NorthStream. “Our services continue on through the whole employee life cycle with job demand, functional, ergonomic and accessibility assessments.” NorthStream also offers employee/supervisor training for drug & alcohol, WHMIS, and AODA, as well as offers rehabilitation services for safer, timelier return to work. NorthStream opened in 2016.

Partnership talks began after a chance meeting at a mining client site, and both saw the benefits of working together right away.

Nordstrom takes on the role of Director of Health and Safety and Rehab for Norpro.
