Norm Fera, manager of the City's arenas, says he's heard nothing so far from Shane Kelly or anyone else associated with the International Independent Hockey League, which today named Kelly over four other bidders as the owner of its new Sault Ste. Marie pro hockey club.

Fera says he's also talked today to Nick Apostle, the City's commissioner of community services, who similarly knows nothing about Kelly's intentions.

At Friday night's home game against Brampton, Soo Greyhounds President Sam Biasucci also claimed to be unware of the new pro team.

Kelly is a former Danish Elite League player now living in Kingston, Ontario.

As SooToday.com revealed in an exclusive report this afternoon, Kelly has told officials of the Harbor Springs-based league that he intends to establish his team office and practise rink in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

All but six members of the team are expected to be recruited from Canada.

Fera says the first he's heard of the new pro franchise was on SooToday.com.

Kelly will be in Harbour Springs tonight for a 6 p.m. meeting with roster candidates and a 7:30 p.m. tryout game against the IIHL's Northern Michigan Predators.
