Local NDP candidate welcomes two new endorsements

MICHELE McCLEAVE-KENNEDY, NDP CANDIDATE

Local NDP candidate Michele McCleave-Kennedy was pleased to today receive the endorsement of both the Sault Ste. Marie and District Labour Council and the Union Executive of United Steelworkers Local 9548.

“Community leadership is one of the goals of this council. We believe Michele can further contribute to the labour movement by being our voice at Queen’s Park,” said Labour Council acting president Lisa Dale in the endorsement.

Cody Alexander, president of USW Local 9548 echoed these sentiments in his local’s endorsement.

“Michele bestows the values of true social responsibility, true community leadership, and has been relentless in protecting workers rights,” said Alexander. “She is a person of extraordinary integrity and has always been a strong and commanding voice, acting and advocating selflessly on behalf of the community and Organized Labour.”

McCleave-Kennedy said she is honoured to receive the backing of two groups that represent so many of Sault Ste. Marie’s workers.

“I’ve always worked hard for our community and its workers, so I’m grateful to the local Labour Council and USW Local 9548 for their support. I’m honoured by their recognition that I will continue to be a strong voice for Sault Ste. Marie and its workers as MPP.”
