NEWS RELEASE
SAULT STE MARIE FEDERAL GREEN PARTY
*************************
The Sault Ste. Marie Federal Green Party today announced the name of the person who will carry the Green banner in the federal election this October. Geordon “Geo” Mclean, 24, of Sault Ste. Marie has been confirmed by the federal party.

Geo was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, and educated at Quest University Canada before returning to his roots in 2017. His life’s work is in social services, with efforts devoted to at-risk youth and adults, through agencies such as Summit Community Foster Care and Canadian Mental Health Association.

“We are ecstatic to have a Millennial generation candidate this time,” said party treasurer Kathie Brosemer. “If millennials all come out and vote, it would change the face of politics in this country.”

Geo’s priorities as a candidate will be improved public health and green, sustainable jobs for our community and for Canada.

“We must make immediate and rapid efforts to shift the economy away from fossil fuels,” he said, “We’re headed for a climate catastrophe and it’s urgent we turn this around.”

The local Green Party will be holding a nominating meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 19, at the John Rhodes Community Centre. All voters and soon-to-be voters are welcome, to come and meet Geo and learn more about Green policies for a sustainable, prosperous future.
