On Oct. 18, 2018, members of Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services were presented with stamps from their local Canada Post that pay tribute to emergency responders.

Representatives from EMS, fire, along with local Canada Post workers gathered at Fire Hall #1 on Tancred Street for the presentation. Both EMS and fire received a commemorative plaque of their stamp.

This year, Canada Post honoured the country’s emergency responders – professional and volunteer, civilian and military – by unveiling five stamps depicting them in action.

This five-stamp tribute, designed by William Lam and illustrated by Shiro Nishiguchi, recognizes the life-saving work of these dedicated women and men. Each design features a single resolute figure in the foreground with a scene representing the teamwork, cooperation and determination required to be among Canada’s emergency responders.
