Local broadcaster James Warner-Smith is defecting from Michigan Soo powerhouse YES-FM 99.5, SooToday News has learned.

The popular prolocutor will finish his last on-air shift on WYSS-FM at 4 p.m. today (Saturday).

Starting a week from Monday, Warner-Smith's pipes will be heard exclusively on Sault Ontario's EZ-Rock 100.5, where he'll work J.C. Joyce's old afternoon drive shift from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

EZ-Rock general manager Scott Sexsmith is expected to announce his newest hire this coming Monday.

Under a no-competition agreement signed by Warner-Smith yesterday, he must stop selling radio spots in the Sault for Northern Star Broadcasting and will no longer be able to voice commercials for MCTV.
