McGuinty government investment will improve facility and help boost economic growth in Sault Ste. Marie

SAULT STE. MARIE — Sault Ste. Marie Public Library will receive $170,000 in capital funding as part of the McGuinty government's plan to boost jobs and growth in Ontario David Orazietti, MPP announced today.

"Our government is pleased to help the Sault library substantially improve its facility and complete its project ahead of schedule," said David Orazietti, MPP. "With this capital investment, we are supporting the many valuable cultural, educational and economic contributions that the library makes to our community."

Today's investment will help fund a new elevator at the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library.

The community will benefit from increased access in the library and the new construction jobs and economic activity associated with the project.

Today's announcement in Sault Ste. Marie is part of a province-wide investment in Ontario's libraries.

The projects include building of new libraries and renovation and expansion of existing libraries.

"Over $2.3 million in capital grants will be distributed to libraries across the province that have ready-to-go infrastructure projects," said Caroline Di Cocco, Minister of Culture. "Most of the projects are located outside of the major urban centres and will generate immediate economic activity and job creation in those communities."

Since 2003, investments in infrastructure, postsecondary education, research and innovation and key economic sectors have helped strengthen Ontario's economic foundations and continue to build opportunity.
