Latest update on Peter Vaudry

The following update on Ward 6 Councillor Peter Vaudry was issued by City Hall at 10 a.m. this morning:

**************************************************************** Councillor Vaudry resting after successful bypass surgery

(Sault Ste. Marie, ON) Peter Vaudry, Ward 6 Councillor, is in good spirits and resting comfortably after undergoing a successful triple bypass operation performed yesterday afternoon at the Ottawa Civic Hospital.

He is currently recovering at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.

Local doctors determined over a week ago that Councillor Vaudry would require bypass surgery after suffering from an angina attack while working at Algoma Steel Inc.

Plans were made for Vaudry's surgery to be performed in Ottawa, where his son Kevin currently resides.

Councillor Vaudry's wife, Pat, contacted City officials last evening to confirm that Peter was resting comfortably and that there were no complications experienced during the surgery.

Pat Vaudry also stated that she expects her husband would be discharged from the hospital as soon as this coming weekend.

After his release, Councillor Vaudry and his wife will be spending a few days with their son Kevin in Ottawa, and could be returning to Sault Ste. Marie as soon as next week.

The Vaudry family expresses continuing gratitude to the many Sault residents for their thoughts, prayers, calls, and emails expressing their best wishes for Peter's speedy recovery.
