Algoma-Manitoulin MPP Mike Brown was on hand as Kevin Mills from Desbarats received a 2004 Marion Drysdale award at the annual meeting of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation.
Kevin's certificate was one of eight province-wide awards presented by OSSTF this week at Toronto's Sheraton Centre Hotel.
The annual awards recognize the creativity and outstanding abilities of Ontario students.
Students from across the province are asked to submit poems and essays, which are judged at four successive levels.
This year's theme was "Appreciating One’s Freedom."
Korah student was regional winner
Kevin was recongized in the Intermediate Grades 9-10 Academic category.
His teacher Suzanne Humphreys and mother Beth Mills were also on hand for the occasion.
Ian Rumpf from Korah Collegiate and Vocational School in Sault Ste Marie was a regional winner in the French or English video/audio/animation category.
