SooToday.com has received the following notice from the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre regarding the passing of a well-known and highly respected Sault Ste. Marie resident. Many will remember the deceased as part of the Sault family that operated "The Vic," long a popular and storied gathering place. Mr. Chow served overseas during the Second World War, was active in the work of Branch 25, The Royal Canadian Legion and contributed to many other aspects of  community life.

CHOW, King Hong – Passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at the age of 94.

Beloved husband of Nancy (nee Chen) for 57 years.

Loving father of Kimberley Waumsley (Alan), Nancy Chow (Craig Foster) and Bonnie Pauli (Brian) and the late Victoria Holly (1969).

Proud grandpa of Alana Waumsley (Dion), Cameron Waumsley (Stacey), Nicole Foster, Ayrton Foster, Emerson Foster, Cooper Foster and Laurel Pauli.

Dear brother of Lewis (late Susie), Hazel Fong (late Tom), late John, late Albert, late Jimmy and the late Joe.

Brother-in-law of Ann Chow and Jean Chow.

Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

King was born in Sault Ste. Marie and served in WWII.

He travelled through the Mediterranean Sea from Italy to France on to Holland while he served for his country.

He had fond memories that he enjoyed sharing with family and friends.

For 40 years, he operated the family business, The Victoria House (The Vic).

He was proud of his family, especially his wife’s accomplishments in gardening, nursing, volunteering, sewing, crafting and cooking.

He will be joining his daughter Victoria and his cherished K9 companion Mayling.

Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Friday, July 5, 2013, from 6-9 p.m.

Funeral service in the chapel on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at 10 a.m., Rev. Phil Miller officiating.

Interment Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorial donations to the SAH Foundation or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25, Poppy Fund would be appreciated.

The Chow family would like to thank Drs. Mathew and Poitevin and the SAH staff.

Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 are requested to assemble at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at 10 a.m. for a memorial service for the late King Chow.
