Maitland Ford says those who participate in tomorrow's Drive One Event for Free the Children will also be helping people affected in fire-stricken Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Ford Canada says it will match whatever is raised during the event for Free the Children and donate the same amount to Red Cross efforts in Fort McMurray.

For every test drive at St. Mary's French Immersion between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, Ford has pledged $20 to a campaign by St. Mary's students to sponsor a Free the Children Health Clinic in Kenya.

Another $20 will also go to the Red Cross.

"It doesn't cost (participants) anything. They just need to come and do a quick ride in the car and it will help both causes," said Judith Kovala, of Maitland Ford.

Kovala said there is no limit to the matching offer.

"We could easily raise $15,000 in six hours, but we need people to come and drive," she said.
