Bob Gwizdz, whose fishing columns appear in the Ann Arbor News, Bay City Times, Flint Journal, Grand Rapids Press, Jackson Citizen Patriot, Kalamazoo Gazette, Muskegon Chronicle and the Saginaw News, recently spent some time in the St. Mary's River rapids with Sault Ste. Marie's John Giuliani.
Ostensibly, the outing was about hooking steelhead and Atlantic salmon.
But more than that, the sportswriter was trawling Giuliani's extensive knowledge of the waterway and its aquatic life.
"The St. Mary's may offer the best Atlantic salmon fishing in the United States," Gwizdz advises his readers in his weekend column.
