Targeted Initiative for Older Workers program offers free training opportunity

Employment Solutions is once again delivering the Targeted Initiative for Older Workers (TIOW) program, a special initiative funded by Employment Ontario and the Government of Canada, designed to help unemployed older workers increase their ability to find and keep a job in the local economy.

In addition to providing assistance with job search activities, interested applicants to the TIOW program may have an opportunity to attend free training at Sault College in the Office Assistant certificate program starting in January 2013.

The Office Assistant certificate program is designed to prepare students with fundamental computer and service skills for any office environment.

Completion of this certificate will prepare students for entry into a variety of office clerical support positions.

Older workers will find the TIOW program to be a great opportunity to upgrade their skills and help increase their ability in obtaining employment in the current labour market. As a major benefit, the TIOW program will cover the tuition and book costs for those who attend training.

To qualify for the TIOW program and these exciting free training opportunities, individuals must be between 50 and 64 years old, unemployed (retired, laid off) and be looking for part time or full time work.

Interested applicants can Contact Debi Mackay at Employment Solutions, 705.945.0705 ext. 4273

This Employment Ontario program is funded in part by the Government of Canada.
