Indigenous sports officials sought for pilot program at 2019 Canada Winter Games

A pilot program for the 2019 Canada Winter Games will bring Indigenous officials from across Canada to the event for a once in a lifetime opportunity for mentorship with NSO certified technical officials

The 2019 Canada Winter Games takes place from Feb. 15 until March 3, 2019. 

Up to 3,600 athletes, 20,000 visitors and over 150 events will be hosted in Red Deer, Alta. The event promises to be one of the largest events hosted in the province since the 1988 Calgary Olympics.

A pilot program for the 2019 Canada Winter Games will bring Indigenous officials from across Canada to the event for a once in a lifetime opportunity for mentorship with NSO certified technical officials.

Indigenous officials for archery, snowboarding and women's ice hockey are being sought.  

Those interested must have at least one year of officiating experience and be nominated by the Aboriginal Sport and Wellness Council of Ontario. 

Applications can be downloaded at aboriginalsportcircle.ca.

The deadline is Sept. 12, 2018.
