Indian Friendship Centre, Plummer Additional receive infrastructure dollars

Renovation projects receive $500,000 combined through COVID-19 resilience fund

Sault Ste. Marie Indian Friendship Centre and Township of Plummer Additional are receiving federal and provincial funding for renovation projects through the COVID-19 Resilience Stream (CVRIS) of the Investing in Canada infrastructure plan.

The friendship centre is receiving $400,000 for the installation of a new HVAC system, while the Township of Plummer Additional will receive $100,000 for a number of retrofits, including: 

  • Separate entrance for administrative staff 
  • Creation of separate offices through the removal of an interior stairwell
  • Installation of plexiglass barriers at reception area
  • Intercom system, 
  • Signage
  • New air filter system and air exchanger
  • Touchless washroom features

On Tuesday, Canada and Ontario announced the doling out of $37.8 million in joint funding for a total of 35 water, recreational, community and educational infrastructure projects province-wide through the infrastructure plan.
