Veterans town hall meeting and conference October 9-10

On Tuesday, October 9, 5:30–7:30 p.m., the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Rural Health Town Hall is hosting a Rural Health Town Hall meeting at the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians Tribal Health Clinic, 2684 Ashmun St., Sault Ste. Marie, MI.

All area veterans and their families are encouraged to attend to voice their concerns to VA personnel from Washington DC, tribal leaders, and health professionals.

On October 10, a Michigan VA and IHS and Tribal Joint Meeting will be held at the Sault Ste. Marie Kewadin Casino.

All veterans are invited to attend the conference, which begins with a ceremonial opening at 8 a.m.

Updates will be presented in the morning, from the from VA Office of Rural Health Central Office in Washington DC, and medical centers in Battle Creek, Iron Mountain and Saginaw.

In the afternoon, present and future projects will be presented, along with a discussion on eligibility for American Indian/Native Alaska Veterans and a telehealth demonstration.

Workgroup breakout sessions will then be held with the conference ending at 5 p.m.
