SAULT STE. MARIE, MI – Lake Superior State University is seeking proposals for a TEDx event that it will be holding in the Shouldice Library on March 23. Students, LSSU employees, and community members are all welcome to submit their ideas.

This year’s theme is, Imagine the Possibilities.

Individuals, pairs, or small groups may make presentations.

Proposals of no more than 500 words should be submitted through [email protected] by February 10.

Presenters will be chosen by February 13.

TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience under the guidance of the international TED Conference organization.

At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.

These events are branded TEDx, where x represents an independently organized TED event.

TED, which started as a conference to bring people together from Technology, Entertainment and Design in 1984, is a nonprofit program devoted to ideas worth spreading.

Along with two annual conferences -- the TED Conference on the West Coast each spring, and the TEDGlobal conference in Edinburgh UK each summer -- TED includes the award-winning TED Talks video site, the Open Translation Project and TED Conversations, the inspiring TED Fellows and TEDx programs, and the annual TED Prize.

TED conferences bring together the world's most fascinating thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes or less.
