House burns to ground in Goulais River area

Man taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries

A house in the Goulais River area has been burned to the ground following a fire that happened early Monday evening.

At approximately 5:50 p.m. members of the Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police detachment and Goulais Fire and Rescue Volunteers responded to a report of a structural fire on Highway 552 East just off of Highway 17 North.

A male who was in the residence at the time was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The fire has been ruled as non-suspicious.

Police say the cause of the fire is unknown.
