Hot rod newlyweds debut vintage monster amongst 100+ other beasts (19 photos)

Rich and Randi Schultz's new vehicle was amongst over 100 others at the SAHVA 2016 Classic Car & Bike Show

Around 140 vintage cars, motorcycles, and various other souped-up vehicles were on display at a Classic Car & Bike Show Sunday.

Rich and Randi Schultz rolled up to the show in their custom 1930 Ford modified street rod pickup truck.

As they pulled in and drove past the crowds, everyone could read the sign attached to the back of their vehicle that read ‘Just Married’.

After more than a decade of being together the couple finally got married in Bellevue Park on Saturday.

“Everyone says it’s about time,” said Schultz.

They bought their vintage hot rod a few weeks ago and had it fixed up in time so that they could ride off from their wedding in it.

Unfortunately, because of the rain on Saturday, that never happened, so the vehicle got to make it’s public debut at Sunday’s car show.

“We always wanted a vehicle that was different,” said Rich Schultz.

The couple started dating 11 years ago and they said that car shows were one of the things they first bonded over.

“When we first met we use to take turns picking each other up and driving down to cars shows. It’s kind of our passion; we enjoy seeing classic cars. Guys put their heart and soul into these (classic vehicles),” said Schultz.

Schultz said they usually go to most car shows in the region, something like 15 throughout the year.

The couple named the vehicle ‘Dirty Thirty’ and they’re waiting for their ‘1 Dirty 30’ custom license plates to come in.

‘1’ because it’s “the number one car”, ‘Dirty’ because “it has a big bad motor in it”, and ‘30’ because that’s the year it was made.

'Dirty Thirty' is made from an antique Ford pickup truck front-end and body with a performance V8 engine and extra-wide street tires.

“It’s kind of a monster. For this specific vehicle we didn’t want to use bright colours. We appreciate bright cars as well, but for this one we thought black paint would be best because it’s such a badass vehicle,” said Randi Schultz.

Although it was their first day married, the newlyweds are saving their honeymoon for a future date.

Right now the plan is to take a ‘hunting moon’ for deer up near Kenora in November.

They’re going to bring a different pickup truck for that.

The 1st Annual 2016 Classic Car and Bike Show was put on by the Sault Area Hospital Volunteer Association (SAHVA).

The event raised around $5,000 through ticket sales, registration, a 50/50 draw, sponsors, and donations.

Proceeds will go towards The Sault Area Hospital Foundation’s ongoing drive to raise $1.9 million for a new CT scanner for the Sault Area Hospital.

SAHVA is committed to raising $200,000 of that total by 2019.

The car show was held on the property of Maslack Supply Ltd., who hosted the event.
