Sault Area Hospital is warning visitors that visiting hours and other provisions of its visitation policy are being strictly enforced.

The following is the full text of a news release issued by the hospital today:

**************************************************************** Visitors, including those who are accompanying patients to the Emergency Department, are asked to follow the new visiting policy at the Sault Area Hospital.

In the emergency department, the nurse will allow visitors for critically ill patients.

Parents may accompany a child who is five years of age or younger. One parent may accompany a child who is five to 16 years old.

All other visitors will be asked to wait in the waiting rooms.

Visiting hours are from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. daily.

Only two visitors at a time are permitted.

Visiting hours may vary in some units.

The visiting policy is in place to protect you, your loved ones and your healthcare providers.

With the increasingly high volume of activity at the hospital, controlling patient visitation will limit exposure to infectious diseases.

Sault Area Hospital will strictly enforce this policy.

Remember to wash your hands when entering and leaving the hospital.

Thank you for your co-operation.
