Highway cleared after accident in Garden River

Highway 17 has re-opened after a Friday-night accident near Garden River. OPP advise that a two-vehicle accident brought hydro lines down on the highway, resulting in complete closure of the road for a time.

OPP advise that a two-vehicle accident brought hydro lines down on the highway, resulting in complete closure of the road for a time.

Emergency crews were called to the scene but there were no injuries.

One motorist called SooToday.com around 8:15 tonight after passing the scene and said one of the vehicles involved appeared to have been a small truck.

A hydro pole was knocked down in the accident.

At 2:53 a.m., the OPP's Northeast Regional Office disclosed that the highway had re-opened at 9 p.m.
