Highway 17 north of Sault Ste. Marie has been closed between Batchawana and Wawa.

The highway was closed shortly before 10:30 p.m. due to bad weather in the area. 

Commuters on the highway struggled due to the snow-covered road and poor visibility in the area, especially around the Montreal River Harbour.

A timeframe for when the highway might reopen is not known.
