Highway 17 closes, re-opens again

Police have re-opened Highway 17 north of Wawa. The adverse weather conditions forced closure of the highway at 1 o'clock this morning. Snow and blowing snow reduced visibility to a few feet in whiteout conditions.

Police have re-opened Highway 17 north of Wawa.

The adverse weather conditions forced closure of the highway at 1 o'clock this morning.

Snow and blowing snow reduced visibility to a few feet in whiteout conditions.

Police re-opened the highway at 6 a.m. today.

It was the second time in a 12-hour period that the highway was closed.

Yesterday afternoon a very heavy snowfall and several jackknifed trucks closed it from Batchewana to Wawa.

The second closure this morning was between Wawa and Marathon.

Police ask that you call the Highway Hotline at 945-5924 for road conditions.
