East Algoma Detachment of Ontario Provincial Police report that Highway 17 between Thessalon and Bruce Mines is now re-opened to single lane traffic in alternating directions.

Police are not releasing any further information at this time about a collision that occurred on Highway 17 at Jarret Drive between Thessalon and Bruce Mines on Saturday afternoon.

The collision, involving at least a dark coloured, four-door pickup truck, possibly a transport and another vehicle resulted in the closure of the highway sometime before 2 p.m. Saturday.

Loyal SooToday readers report seeing an ORNGE helicopter in the parking lot of Thessalon Public School Saturday afternoon.

Police advised that the highway was closed while police investigated a motor vehicle collision.
