High water on St. Marys River (15 photos)

Areas of Bellevue Park are awash as rising water surges over the shoreline

A southeasterly wind is expected into tonight, carrying with it gusts of up to 70 km/h, says SooToday meteorologist Jerry Shields.

That wind appears to be pushing already high water up higher on the shores of the St. Marys River.

As reported earlier today, areas of Bellevue Park and the Sault's boardwalk are flooded.

Loyal SooToday reader Holly Spin visited the park and sent us the following message and the first four photos in the gallery.

"Hi, I was out for a drive this afternoon, and I took a drive down to Bellevue Park and i took these picture's with my phone of the flooding down at the park," Spin said. "I took them from a very safe distance!"

The wind is expected to switch direction around midnight, possibly bringing those of us on the north shore of the river some relief from high water woes.
