Hey Heritage Square? It's your time to shine! (7 photos)

New street lighting is being installed from Pim Street to Precious Blood Cathedral

Electrical contractors have been busy this week installing new street lighting in Heritage Square in time for Thursday's Moonlight Magic event.

"Fifty per cent of poles are being replaced from Pim Street to Precious Blood Cathedral," Downtown Association General Manager Josh Ingram tells SooToday.

"When the snow melts in spring, they'll be doing the other 50 per cent," Ingram says.

"The new lights will be more charcoal than a green colour."

Moonlight Magic starts at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15 with Queen Street closed to traffic from Pim Street to Dennis.

Downtown retail establishments will remain open until 11 p.m. for late-night shoppers.

Everyone is asked to bring donations for the Sault Transit Stuff-A-Bus for Christmas Cheer.

The lighting of the community tree will be at 7 p.m. at the courthouse.
