The Easter bunny is making an appearance this upcoming long weekend, and that means city facilities will be closed both on Good Friday and Easter Monday.
In a news release issued today, the city also reminds Saultites that garbage and recycling pickup will be a day later than usual.
Transit and the Para bus aren't running on Good Friday, but will be back in regular operation for the rest of the weekend.
Community centres and pools will operate under a revised schedule throughout the weekend.
The city is also reminding citizens to continue practicing physical distancing from those outside your immediate residence and restricting non-essential travel visitors, especially between different zones.

The following city facilities will be closed during the Easter holiday period – Good Friday, April 2 through Easter Monday, April 5:
- Bay Street Active Living Centre 55+ and the Northern Community Centre
- Cemetery office
- City Landfill and Household Hazardous Waste Depot
- GFL Memorial Gardens administrative office and box office
- Public Works and Engineering office – 128 Sackville Rd. For 24-hour emergency service requests, call 705-759-5201.
- Ronald A. Irwin Civic Centre – 99 Foster Dr.
- Sault Transit main office
Garbage and Recycling Collection
There is no garbage or recycling pickup on Good Friday, April 2. Friday’s garbage and recycling collection will be on Saturday, April 3.

The city’s landfill will be closed on Good Friday, April 2 and Easter Monday, April 5. The landfill will open to the public for the season beginning April 10 and will operate Monday to Saturday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
The city’s Household Hazardous Waste Depot will open to the public for the season beginning April 6, 2021 and will operate Tuesday to Saturday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
GFL Memorial Gardens – closed Good Friday, April 2 and Easter Sunday, April 4 with the exception of previously scheduled programming. Open for scheduled programming Saturday, April 3 and Monday, April 5.
John Rhodes – closed Good Friday, April 2 and Easter Sunday, April 4 with the exception of previously scheduled programming. Open for scheduled programming Saturday, April 3. On Monday, April 5, sledge skating is available from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m., adult skating from 12 – 1 p.m. and public skating from 1 – 2 p.m.
McMeeken Arena and Northern Community Centre – closed Good Friday, April 2 and Easter Sunday, April 4. Open for scheduled programming Saturday, April 3 and Easter Monday, April 5. Northern Community Centre – walking is cancelled on Good Friday, April 2 and Easter Monday, April 5.
John Rhodes Community Centre Pool – open Good Friday, April 2, Saturday, April 3 and Monday, April 5 for scheduled programming. Closed Easter Sunday, April 4. All swimming must be booked online. Public Libraries– all libraries will be closed Good Friday, April 2, Easter Sunday, April 4 and Easter Monday, April 5. The James L. McIntyre Centennial Library will be open on Saturday, April 3 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Ermatinger Clergue National Historic Site – closed Good Friday, April 2, Easter Sunday, April 4 and Easter Monday, April 5. Open 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., Saturday, April 3.
Transit Service
Transit and Para bus will not operate Good Friday, April 2. Regular weekend service for transit and para bus runs Saturday, April 3 and Easter Sunday, April 4. Regular weekday service resumes Easter Monday, April 5. For transit information, call 705-759-5438.
