A news release issued by the chamber regarding the Outstanding Business Achievement Awards and this year’s nominees follows:

**************************
With its Outstanding Business Achievement Awards less than two weeks away, the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce (SSMCOC) would like to take an opportunity to acknowledge the many exceptional businesses, agencies and individuals that were nominated for their entrepreneurship, innovations and business savvy.

SSMCOC CEO, Rory Ring describes the award nomination process: “In all, more than 160 nominations were received in late 2018 for more than 20 award categories. From those nominations, almost 100 of the nominees met the established award criteria and let their business, agency or individual names stand for nomination. An independent panel of Chamber volunteers from a wide range of business sectors and backgrounds are now currently scoring the follow-up written submissions provided by each nominee. Once scored, the award recipients will be announced at the Chamber’s annual Outstanding Business Achievement Awards on Saturday, Jan. 26.”

Tickets for the awards gala are available by contacting the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce office at 705-949-7152 or can be ordered online.

The Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce is pleased to welcome SooToday as the returning sponsor of the Outstanding Business Achievement Awards.

Ring notes that “Sootoday.com and Village Media exemplifies what so many of our local businesses aspire to. It is a locally grown business that now has a national reach and customer base, but they recognize the importance and strength of local talent, local partnerships and commitment to the community. We are pleased to have them join us for this signature event of the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce.”

The Chamber applauds all off the businesses and organizations that have been nominated for one of this year’s business awards and thanks the many individuals that took the time to nominate. All of these businesses, agencies and individuals are, in their own unique ways, innovators and leaders. They are all worthy of recognition for their successful pursuit of business excellence.
