Heavy police presence on Carufel Avenue near Connaught (update, 5 photos)

The following is a statement issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service:

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service is currently on scene at an address on Carufel Ave. in relation to follow up investigation from the home invasion the day prior. There is no danger to the public and two males persons have been taken into custody.

More will follow when available.

Original 8:20 p.m. information

A number of Sault Ste. Marie Police officers are currently on scene and have reportedly surrounded a home located on Carufel Avenue near Connaught Avenue.

At least three police cruisers, a number of unmarked vehicles, and the Ballistic Armoured Tactical Transport (BATT) vehicle responded.

Witnesses report seeing approximately three individuals transported from the area in police vehicles.

No shots have been reported in the incident.

Police have the street closed and motorists are asked to avoid the area.
